Bringing Hope to Children Living With Thalassemia

Unlocking Hope for Thalassemia

Thalassemia, a silent adversary, affects millions of people in India. Patients endure frequent blood transfusions from a tender age, facing the menacing challenge of iron overload.

Project BLOOD emerges as a beacon of hope, striving to ease their journey and provide them with the care they deserve.

The Story So Far...

Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore has provided free medications for these children through Reynold’s Memorial Hospital for the past few years as a part of UMMID project along with Department of Biotechnology. As project UMMID nears its conclusion in Washim, the need for an alternate source of these medications becomes critical.

CMC Vellore, moreover, goes beyond just supplying medication; they offer heavily subsidized, and sometimes free, bone marrow transplants through Coal India LTD’s generosity under Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana (TBSY). Yet, the journey to Vellore for treatment is a difficult one for many families. Most rely on daily wages and have little to no savings, making it challenging to afford travel and accommodation during the lengthy hospital stay.

Affected children in Washim face a challenging ordeal.

Effective treatment for thalassemia remains elusive, forcing them into arduous journeys in its pursuit

Project BLOOD stands tall, aiming to bridge this gap and provide them with the support they desperately need.

Our Mission in Washim

With your donation, you can provide essential medical support to a child with thalassemia.

Your generosity can extend beyond medication to cover travel and living expenses during their hospital stay for bone marrow transplants, ensuring that families can stay together during this critical time.

If you’d like to extend your care beyond monetary means, do consider donating blood at your local blood bank. Remember, every pint of blood donated is a life saved!
